🤔 Ed Curnow (MB $9,400, DS $16,900)
Curnow has been on fire in the last 4 weeks averaging 127.5pts, he has averaged 28.5 Disposals and a very noteworthy 9.0 Tackles during the same period. With Gibbs now long gone Curnow has assumed the role as a leading ball winner at the Blues, he has never averaged more than 25.0 Disposals in a season & is averaging 28.6 Disposals this year.
The Bulldogs offer an intriguing match-up for Curnow & the Blues, after a poor start to their season the Bulldogs only conceded an average of 333.5 Disposals in Rounds 3 & 4 (Ave: 401.3 Disposals in all other games). When in form the Bulldogs are a high Disposal team, on the other side the Blues have averaged 325.0 Disposals from their last 3 games.
Curnow is right on the borderline to fade this week, he does need to put up a score well above 100pts to equal his salary and with his ceiling that is within reach. Put a limit on how many times you roster Curnow if you go down that path.
🎲 Marcus Bontempelli (MB $8,600, DS $12,200)
Many a dollar would have been wasted on Bontempelli this year and with his declining salary that is likely going to be the case again on Friday night, the Bont is averaging 77.8pts this season which is 22.4pts below his 2017 season average.
Bontempelli has seen a lot more forward time this year thus reducing his Disposal average to 20.0 per game, he is the equal leading Goal scorer at the Bulldogs with 6 Goals. Carlton conceded an average of 109.5pts in their opening 4 games but were quite stingy last week against the Eagles conceding just 79pts at the MCG.
The value for Bontempelli can’t be ignored again this week, he is definitely worth rostering but placing a limit on the amount of teams you put him in is wise just in case he fails again.
