Fantasy Wrap: Round 10

Being short on defender coverage was a critical factor in Round 9, not only were there multiple team changes on Thursday night but the late out of Paul Seedsman on Sunday was influential on your improvement or decline in overall rank.

As the scramble begins to find decent coverage over the Bye weeks, here are some thoughts from Round 10.

Round 10 Notable Performances (Good & Bad):

Adam Treloar (AF: 130, SC: 133) has stepped up his fantasy game in recent weeks averaging 33.7 Disposals since Round 4, Brodie Grundy (AF: 124, SC: 152) is absolutely crushing it and is likely to face Fremantle this week without a recognised Ruck. Jack Macrae (AF: 113, SC: 102) cooled off significantly in the 2nd half against Collingwood, Toby McLean (AF: 152, SC: 122) scores are currently ticking over at an elite level.

Josh Caddy (AF: 139, SC: 146) made the most of Jack Riewoldt going down in the opening minutes of the game, Dustin Martin (AF: 82, SC: 105) continues to have major quite patches in games that are severely restricting his output. Jack Steven (AF: 134, SC: 112) was matched up on Dusty early and recorded a season high 36 Disposals, Jimmy Webster (AF: 118, SC: 128) continues to impress recording a career high 36 Disposals.

Weather conditions certainly impacted many players in Brisbane, Stefan Martin (AF: 137, SC: 134) wasn’t one of those players negatively impacted after recording a season high 58 Hit Outs. Conditions were clearly not suitable for Lance Franklin (AF: 51, SC: 60) finishing with an equal season low 1 Goal, he was well held by Darcy Gardiner (AF: 57, SC: 73).

Tom Stewart (AF: 118, SC: 135) is starting to go large when he has no match up in defence, he could enjoy that role for weeks to come depending on the availability of Harry Taylor & opposition match-ups. Normal transmission was restored for Kade Simpson (AF: 124, SC: 140), his scores have been quite volatile this season.

The change up in defence at GWS resulted in a jackpot for Heath Shaw (AF: 123, SC: 149), he recorded a season high 34 Disposals. David Zaharakis (AF: 143, SC: 126) has to be one of the best under owned selections on both platforms this season, Devon Smith (AF: 113, SC: 120) recorded another 13 Tackles this time against his former team.

Tom Mitchell (AF: 135, SC: 116) wasn’t impeded at all by a Mark Hutchings (AF: 67, SC: 38) tag, Jaeger O’Meara (AF: 112, SC: 108) kicked an equal career high 3 Goals. Andrew Gaff (AF: 154, SC: 135) recorded an equal season high 35 Disposals as well as adding a season high 12 Marks against the Hawks, Nic Naitanui (AF: 100, SC: 107) spent only 56% Time on Ground.

There was no stopping Angus Brayshaw (AF: 166, SC: 130) on Sunday, he recorded a career high 37 Disposals, 14 Marks & 3 Goals in what was virtually a non-contact game. Rory Laird was a shining light for the Crows, he finished with 30 Disposals and a season high 10 Marks.

Nat Fyfe (AF: 128, SC: 163) enjoyed wet conditions at Optus Stadium recording an equal season high 8 Tackles, he is averaging 34.0 Disposals at his home ground this season. Ben Jacobs (AF: 114, SC: 111) had the tagging job on Nat Fye and was rewarded finishing with 29 Disposals & 9 Tackles, Shaun Higgins (AF: 99, SC: 92) fought hard through a Bailey Banfield tag (AF: 65, SC: 64).
Good Luck for Round 11
