AFL FANTASY ANALYSIS
Jack Steven again failed to average 100pts in a season in 2018, the ability for opposition teams to restrict his fantasy output keeps away the majority of sharp fantasy coaches from selecting him.
Steven scored 100pts or more in 40.9% of games & 120pts or more from 18.2% of games in 2018, far too many games under 100pts.
Steven averaged 103.3pts from his opening 10 games last season, he averaged 91.1pts from his final 12 games. In 2017 Steven averaged 100.6pts from his opening 10 games, he averaged 89.3pts from his final 10 games.
The addition of Dan Hannebery into the midfield will likely provide some assistance for Steven in 2019, he is still likely to be the No.1 shutdown target for opposition clubs.
The numbers aren’t overly horrible for Steven, however he is a serious investment for fantasy coaches and his volatility has always been a concern. The change of assistant coaches at St Kilda could alter Disposal numbers next season, the Saints were ranked 3rd averaging 388.7 Disposals in 2018.
