Injury Update: Sam Docherty

Sam Docherty has ruptured his ACL in a training incident today, it is the same knee he injured just on 12 months ago that required a full reconstruction.

Docherty is likely to miss the entire 2019 season, he did not play a game last season.

“It’s clearly a huge disappointment for Sam to experience such cruel luck, we are all feeling for him right now.”

“The way he tackled his rehab this year was simply incredible and he could have played at the end of last season before the decision was made to hold him back.” Carlton Head of Football, Brad Lloyd.

Docherty averaged 27.9 Disposals & 9.0 Marks in the 2017 H&A season.

Fantasy coaches likely have a soft spot for Docherty & are surely sympathetic to yet another ACL injury, this on the back of recent news that he was heavily discounted for the 2019 season.

The discounted price for Docherty likely would have resulted in heavy ownership numbers at Round 1 next season, now fantasy coaches will be forced in different directions which can be good for season long competitions.

Kade Simpson becomes relevant again in AFL Fantasy but more importantly so does Will Setterfield & Nic Newman, watching the new backline setup at Carlton will be required viewing in JLT Series games.
