Ollie Wines injured his left shoulder at training last week, as a result he underwent surgery tonight.

Wines will now miss the start of the 2020 H&A season, it is the opposite shoulder to which he injured approximately 12 months ago which forced him to miss the opening 2 games of the 2019 AFL season after undergoing surgery.

“Ollie dislocated his shoulder in a fairly routine contest on Wednesday in one of those unfortunate incidents that can happen in football”

“After seeking advice, surgery was recommended as the best course of action, and while the surgery was a success, it will interrupt his start to the season.” Power Head of Medical Services, Tim O’Leary.

Wines averaged 25.3 Disposals, 3.4 Marks & 4.9 Tackles from 12 games in 2019, he played in 100.0% of games between 2016-18.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

The injury for Ollie Wines likely opens up another opportunity in the midfield for the Power early in the H&A season, Dan Houston will likely be a big part of the midfield rotation.

Travis Boak & Tom Rockliff will also be a part of the tier 1 midfield group along with Houston, Connor Rozee, Robbie Gray & Brad Ebert may see an increase in usage in the midfield early in 2020.

Wines was a borderline classic pick, he slides quite a few rounds in draft now.
