Injury Update: Bachar Houli

Richmond defender Bachar Houli looks set to be available for Round 2, he arrived back at the club on Monday battling soreness & will likely be on a limited training program in the short term.

The Tigers have only the one injury concern as the team returned to training for the first time since March, coach Damien Hardwick praised the medical & fitness staff while adding Houli was unlikely to miss Round 2.

“Bachar Houli was a little bit sore, he’s probably the one (player with an injury concern)”

“We wouldn’t think at this stage it would put him in any doubt for Round 2” Damien Hardwick on Monday.

Houli missed Round 1 due to a calf injury.

Update May 20: “It was not as significant as the first one (calf strain earlier this year), it is the same area but he’s back running yesterday.. His chances for Round 2 are still quite good.. But we’ll also look at the longer term approach with him to make sure the year is a success” Tigers Physical Performance Manager, Peter Burge.

Houli played 22 out of 25 games in the 2019 season, he averaged 27.8 Disposals, 6.5 Marks, & 2.7 Tackles.

Houli should slot nicely into the half-back line for the Tigers with his ability to accumulate disposals & control the defensive part of the ground, small defender Liam Baker recorded 16 Disposals in Round 1 taking 22.2% of kick-ins.

Houli recorded 42.9% of kick-ins in the second game of the 2020 Marsh Community Series for Richmond.

Fantasy: Round 1 Tigers v Blues CBA’s

Houli will be a target for fantasy coaches due to his high ceiling & low ownership in season long fantasy having missed Round 1 due to injury.
