Jye Caldwell Joins Essendon

Jye Caldwell has been traded to Essendon, he has played 11 games for GWS after being selected at Pick 11 in the 2018 AFL Draft.

“He’s a contested-ball winner who oozes composure and sure ball-handling whenever he’s in possession. Additionally, we know Jye has a lot of development ahead and is only going to get better with more exposure to senior football. “

“Jye really complements our young midfield brigade in Andy McGrath, Darcy Parish and Kyle Langford, and will hone his craft alongside experienced players in Dyson Heppell, Dylan Shiel and Zach Merrett amongst a few.” Bombers GM of List and Recruiting Adrian Dodoro.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

Jye Caldwell averaged 54.2pts from 9 games at the Giants in 2020, he scored a season high 75pts in Round 3 against the Bulldogs.

Caldwell should be a very good fit in the Bombers midfield, with limited opportunities at the Giants his fantasy output has been restricted so far in his career.

Caldwell is likely to be a popular mid-price option at Round 1 next season in AFL Fantasy, his ADP should be strong given a solid set of pre-season games.
