There has been clarification on the role for Zak Butters this season, he’ll play the majority of time in a half forward role.

Butters provided an update on SEN SA on Monday.

“I’m still a high half-froward that likes to get a bit more time in the midfield,” Butters said.

At the age of 20 Butters admits there is still plenty to learn about his midfield craft.Ā

“I’ve still got to learn a lot of craft in there & earn my shots in that midfield.”

“It’s one of the best midfields in the comp, just to get a few minutes in there I’m looking forward to” Butters added.

Butters averaged 60.9pts from 17 games in 2020, he scored a season high 114pts against Adelaide in Round 2.Ā

It appears that Butters will play a similar half-forward role again this year & move into the midfield on a part time basis, that likely diminishes a large rise on his fantasy output this season.

It is worth monitoring the midfield situation at Port Adelaide, Butters has a contested type game that is well suited to playing as an inside midfielder.Ā

There is still some upside in his Round 1 salary in AFL Fantasy classic, his draft position remains unchanged in 10 team standard draft leagues.Ā
