There has been an update on the specific role for Isaac Heeney this season, he’ll play a mostly forward role with the ability to pinch hit in the midfield.Â
Sydney senior coach John Longmire provided an update on Monday.Â
“We’re really looking forward to getting him back in the team, and getting him in that forward half with occasional run in the midfield” Longmire said.Â

Heeney had a season ending ankle injury early last year, he underwent significant surgery but Longmire is confident he is ready to go at Round 1.Â
“Isaac is one of the most professional players that we’ve got & he works just so hard on getting himself right, he’s naturally really fit & keeps himself in great condition” Longmire added.

AFL FANTASY TAKE
Heeney averaged 70.7pts from 6 games last season, he scored a season high 101pts against Adelaide in Round 1.Â
Heeney is likely to become more dangerous this season with a few quality additions to the Swans forward line in the off-season, his ability to pinch hit in the midfield should keep his fantasy output healthy with the potential of a slight increase.Â

Heeney may go overlooked by many to start the season in AFL Fantasy classic, he’s a viable option to start at Round 1.Â
It might be worthwhile moving Heeney up a few spots on your draft boards.Â
