The 2021 H&A season is set to begin on March 18, @aflratingsPete ranks the Top 10 Forwards under $300K in AFL Fantasy classic.Â
The following list is a balanced opinion of which players to target throughout the 2021 H&A season, it doesn’t necessarily associate a high rank with a potential early game in the season. The comments are important to acknowledge; ability, playing role & potential scoring output have an influence on the rank.Â
2021 Fantasy: Top 10 Defenders Under $300K
2021 Fantasy: Top 5 Rucks Under $300K
1.Braeden Campbell (Sydney) $262K MID/FWD
Campbell appears to be an elite prospect for the Swans, long term he will play as an inside midfielder type but early on he is set for a role across half-back with likely some midfield usage. He works well in contested situations & uses the ball well, expect a very solid fantasy scoring output in his first year in the AFL.Â
Season Projection: 65
2. Miles Bergman (Port Adelaide) $170KÂ
Selected at pick 14 in the 2019 AFL Draft Bergman missed out on making his debut last season, the year was spent developing his game in practice matches. It is likely he is ready to play at a high level in the Port Adelaide team, unfortunately the Power have excellent depth which could limit his opportunities. A role across half-back for the majority of the season would deliver a very good fantasy output.
Season Projection: 65

3. Logan McDonald (Sydney) $264K
McDonald was selected at pick 4 in the 2020 AFL Draft, he will debut in Round 1 & play mostly as a key forward. A promising second half in the AAMI Community Series left the coaching staff no real choice but to select McDonald for his first game, he should be able to provide a very good ROI from his Round 1 starting salary. Ownership might even be friendly.Â
Season Projection: 60
4. Tyler Brockman (Hawthorn) $180K MID/FWD
Brockman was electric in the AAMI Community Series against Nth Melbourne, he played a half forward/small forward type role hitting the scoreboard early & often. That won’t likely be a normal output from game to game but his talent looks elite, the Hawks have hit the rebuild button which should provide plenty of opportunities this season.Â
Season Projection: 55

5. Harrison Jones (Essendon) $170K
Jones was selected at pick 30 in the 2019 AFL Draft, he did not make his debut last season & was recovering from a foot injury. He has looked sharp as the lead-up forward in practice matches this season & should see a clear run of opportunities this year at Essendon, based on his Round 1 salary Jones is great value.
Season Projection: 55
6. Anthony Scott (Western Bulldogs) $170K MID/FWD
Scott will make his AFL debut in Round 1, he’ll likely be used across the half-back line but is versatile enough to move into other positions. He was recently added to the Bulldogs list in the pre-season, expect a solid scoring output if he plays predominantly that half-back role. Â
Season Projection: 55

7. Thomas Berry (Brisbane) $235K
Berry made his AFL debut last season, he played mostly in a forward role but is a contested type player that can run through a midfield role. With the long term injury to Cam Rayner an opportunity opens up in the team at Brisbane, a move into any type of midfield role should provide a decent return.Â
Season Projection: 50
8. Chad Warner (Sydney) $196K
Warner has shown signs of genuine improvement in the pre-season, his inside contested game would put him in a good position to keep the fantasy scores ticking over at a solid rate when given an opportunity to run through a midfield role. Warner made his AFL debut last season & played 2 games, we should see him more often in 2021.
Season Projection: 50
2021 Fantasy: Top 10 Defenders
9. Finlay Macrae (Collingwood) $234K MID/FWD
Macrae was selected at pick 19 in the 2020 AFL Draft , he’ll likely play as an outside midfield type early in his career at Collingwood. He didn’t play in 2020 with that U18 year wiped out by Covid, he may take a while to break through for his first game & should be a target instantly if named.Â
Season Projection: 50
10. Will Kelly (Collingwood) $172K
Injured early in his AFL debut last season Kelly looked very comfortable at the level, another injury in the AAMI Community Series & we are going to have to wait a little while longer again in 2021. Kelly will play as a lead-up key/half forward type, he should provide an excellent ROI.Â
Season Projection: 50
