Goater will add speed & line-breaking ability to the North Melbourne half-back/wing area of the ground, senior coach David Noble was excited with the new dynamic added to the playing list.
“Josh Goater is a really flexible rebounder.. that can play off half-back & wing,”
“Reads the ball really well.. carries the ball, makes good decisions”
“It’s probably that run & carry wing/half-back.. area, that we needed to focus on” Noble said.

2022 AFL Fantasy: Matthew Johnson
Goater averaged 24.0 Disposals, 5.0 Marks & 1.9 Tackles from 7 games in the NAB League in 2021.
Fantasy Impact: Josh Goater will provide a different look for Nth Melbourne coming out of defence, his speed & ability to make clear decisions in traffic will be a feature of his game.
His short term fantasy prospects could be decent, the Kangaroos are still progressing through a rebuild which should allow the coaching staff the flexibility to get a look at him in 2022.
If Goater can secure a role across half-back/wing then his scoring output should be solid, his long term fantasy prospects are directly linked to his role in the Nth Melbourne team.
Goater is a consideration in season long fantasy at Round 1 if he can secure a place in the best 22, he may be given a licence to develop for period of time at AFL level that provides an opportunity in fantasy.
Goater is likely a late round speculative selection in single season draft leagues, he likely will be available after the early selections in dynasty leagues & could be worth a flyer.
