2022 Fantasy: Sam Skinner Role

The role for Sam Skinner has been establish for the 2022 H&A season.

He will play as a key defender for Port Adelaide in his first year at the club.

Skinner joined Port Adelaide in the off-season after being delisted by Brisbane at the end of 2020.

He played in the SANFL in 2021 prior to joining the Power as a delisted free agent in November.

Skinner discussed his role on 5AA last week while acknowledging it will be tough to break into the AFL side in 2022.

“I’m playing as a defender.”

“Obviously back half of last year I was a defender at South Adelaide and I just felt a bit more comfortable because I was drafted as a defender.”

“They’ve put me there and it seems like that’s where I’ll stay.”

“Obviously it’s a pretty tough spot to get into at the moment in the senior side but a good challenge for me and I’m just enjoying getting used to playing that role again.”

“I’ve just been playing solely as a back so far.” He said.

PORT ADELAIDE AFL NEWS

Fantasy Impact: Sam Skinner joined Port Adelaide after spending one year in the SANFL.

His early AFL career was riddled with injuries but at the age of 24 there is still time to forge out a good career.

His scoring isn’t likely to be strong in a key defensive role in fantasy.

Skinner will be an option in season long fantasy if he can break through for his Port Adelaide debut, he is likely to exceed value based on his basement salary.

He’s a pass in single season draft leagues with what is likely to be low and inconsistent scoring.
