Gold Coast senior coach Stuart Dew admits Matt Rowell is still adjusting to AFL level.
Having been injury interrupted early in his career Rowell has played 22 games for the Suns, he was selected at pick 1 in the 2019 AFL Draft.
Dew provided insight as to where his young midfielder is at on SEN this week.

“He come from U18’s where he’s the go to, he’s the natural ball winner.”
“It’s only natural that he’s going to have to find another way because it is a different game, you can’t keep doing that.”
“We’re happy with his progress,”
“He hasn’t been a 30+ possession game player, he’s actually your low mid 20’s that hit the scoreboard.”

“So he’s finding his way.”
“Definitely last year he needed a good pre-season, he’s had that (this year) and we think that he’ll continue to evolve.”
“But what he is building is a really good synergy with his mates Touk Miller and Noah Anderson and Brayden Fiorini and working with (Jarrod) Wittsy as well.” he said.
