Vickery plays as a small defender that can put speed on the ball in transition.

Sydney GM of List Strategy and Recruitment Kinnear Beatson provided a brief update after Vickery was selected.

“He’s a small defender,”

“We just think we have been looking for a small defender that can play on the likes of Kysiah Pickett, Charlie Cameron and Cody Weightman.”

“They’re the ones that get under your skin and are hard to match up on. We think he has the potential to be able to do that.” Beatson said.

Vickery also averaged 16.8 disposals, 3.5 marks and 1.8 tackles from 4 games in the 2022 U18 National Championships.

Fantasy Impact: Cooper Vickery will add quality depth to the defensive unit at Sydney.

He can keep opposing small forwards quiet and has the ability to provide run out of defence. He reads the play well and is extremely competitive.

The short term fantasy prospects are likely moderate, he may take time to develop physically. Sydney can be patient with existing depth in defence.

His long term prospects could vary, his scoring rate could be quite volatile if his role is consistently set for dangerous opposing small forwards. His speed may also provide an opportunity to be used frequently in ball transition.

Season long fantasy: Vickery could be an option if available players at his salary range are limited, a clear update on his specific role would be required prior to committing .

Single season draft leagues: He’s a pass in single season draft leagues.

DFS: His role early in his career will provide an understanding of his scoring potential.
