AFLRATINGS NEWS: Carlton defender Jacob Weitering is a good chance to be available for the start of the 2026 AFL season.
He was assisted from the ground by medical staff in Saturday night’s Origin game following a marking contest.

Weitering was taken to hospital by ambulance for further assessment.
He was released from hospital and cleared to return home to Melbourne on Sunday.
Further assessment has revealed a fractured rib (via Carlton on Monday).
“First and foremost we are grateful Jacob is okay and has been cleared of any major injury – it is a positive outcome given the circumstances,”

“While Jacob is feeling sore this morning, he has avoided significant damage, so we will manage him as needed while we ramp up our preparations for the start of the season.” Carlton GM of Football Chris Davies on Sunday.
Carlton will likely provide updates during his recovery period.
Weitering averaged 13.7 disposals, 7.0 marks and 1.0 tackle from 23 games in 2025.
