AFLRATINGS NEWS: Melbourne small forward Andy Moniz-Wakefield was assessed for a knee concern on Sunday.

Moniz-Wakefield came from the ground in Q4 and did not return.

Moniz-Wakefield underwent further assessment to determine the severity of the injury, he will miss the remainder of the season with a ruptured ACL. 

“This is disappointing news for Andy, particularly given the work he put in over the pre-season to return from his previous knee injury. We all really feel for him,”

“The club, along with our medical and high-performance staff, will ensure he receives the highest standard of care and has everything he needs throughout the rehabilitation period.” 

“While his presence will be missed on the field, we know Andy will continue to bring his positive attitude from the sidelines.” Melbourne GM of AFL Football Alan Richardson.

Melbourne will likely provide updates during his rehabilitation period.

Moniz-Wakefield is averaging 7.5 disposals, 1.5 marks and 0.5 goals this season (AF PPM: 0.96).

Melbourne next play Collingwood on Monday June 8 at the MCG.
