AFLRATINGS NEWS: Essendon outside midfielder Xavier Duursma was assessed for a left hamstring concern on Sunday against GWS at Marvel Stadium.
Duursma came from the ground in Q4 and was immediately ruled out of the game.

Essendon confirmed a hamstring injury throughout the game.
Duursma has undergone further assessment to determine the severity of the injury, he has been diagnosed with a high-grade hamstring strain and will miss the remainder of the season.

“With so few games left, a return to play this season is unfortunately out of reach for Duurs, so he‘ll turn his attention to his rehab and will support the rest of the playing group through the last five games of the year.” Essendon GM of AFL Daniel McPherson.
Essendon will likely provide updates during his rehabilitation period.

Duursma averaged 16.2 disposals, 5.2 marks and 1.9 tackles prior to Round 19 (AF PPM: 0.86).
Essendon next play Hawthorn on Saturday afternoon at the MCG.
