AFLRATINGS NEWS: Melbourne senior coach Steven King remains hopeful midfielder Tom Sparrow will stay at the club.
Speaking on SEN King said he was currently “optimistic” Sparrow would sign a contract extension at the Demons.

Sparrow is out of contract at the end of the 2026 season and is a restricted free agent.
He has been linked to a move back to South Australia to join Port Adelaide.

King added that he’ll be the “happiest coach in Australia” if Sparrow decided to stay at Melbourne.
There has been no comment surrounding a potential matched bid from Melbourne.
Sparrow is currently averaging 22.8 disposals, 2.9 marks and 6.5 tackles this season, he has been used at 68.5% o team CBA’s.
