GEELONG will likely contend deep into September this year in part due to their successful pre-season, injuries play a big part in the fortunes of many teams and staying injury free is an important element required to achieve Premiership glory.
The Cats were eliminated last year in the Preliminary Final at the Adelaide Oval by the Crows, that team will look vastly different to the one that will step out on the MCG on March 25th against Melbourne in Round 1.
Last year Geelong were playing catch up on injuries which tested their depth, this year they have increased numbers during pre-season which will provide a good platform to kick start their H&A season.
“Last year we were really battling for numbers out on the turf..”
“We’ve had high 30s (Main Training group) this year so we’ve really been able to focus on our game styles & get some benefits out of that.” Matthew Scarlett
Geelong will complete in AFL X at Hindmarsh Stadium (Opponents: Adelaide, Port Adelaide, Fremantle, West Coast & Collingwood) on Thursday February 15th.
The Cats will finalise their pre-season in the JLT Series against Gold Coast (Riverway Stadium, Townsville) on Sunday March 4th & against Essendon (Central Reserve, Colac) on March 11th.
