Toby Greene is set for surgery on Thursday after his ankle showed insufficient improvement over the off-season, it is expected that he should return to full training early in January.
“It’s unfortunate that Toby has suffered this setback but by making this decision now, we don’t run the risk of him missing any games” GWS Head of Athletic Performance David Joyce.
Greene has been restricted by injury in the last 2 years at the Giants, he has played in only 57.1% of games since the start of the 2017 H&A season.
The recent injuries have had a negative impact on the output for Green, he averaged 15.8 Disposals in 2018 which was his lowest season average of his career.
AFL FANTASY TAKE
The warning signs should be clearly sounding for those that were contemplating selecting Greene at Round 1 next season, his constant injury issues will be a concern in season long fantasy.
Greene averaged 74.6pts in the 2018 H&A season which is unders compared to his previous career fantasy history, his price tag will be very tempting but the interruption to his pre-season already is a major concern.
