Injury Update: Harley Bennell

Reports of yet another setback for Harley Bennell could delay his start to the 2019 H&A season, The West Sport reporting this morning Bennell injured his calf at training last Friday.

Bennell had scans on Saturday confirming a minor calf strain, he will likely have his pre-season workload reduced as a result of the fresh concern.

Fremantle open their JLT Series against Collingwood at Joondalup (WA) on March 4, it is likely Bennell will be held out of that game based on the calf strain.

Bennell has played in only 2 games since crossing to Fremantle at the end of 2015, he has a career average of 21.7 Disposals from 83 games.

The latest setback isn’t great news for those looking to select Bennell at Round 1, his starting price is a major attraction that would assist in a solid team structure so early in the year.

Bennell has a career average of 82.5pts, he averaged a career season high 92.0pts in his final year at Gold Coast in 2015.

The risk associated with selecting Bennell is high even if he can manage to break his way into the Fremantle Round 1 team, proceed with caution & have back-up plans if injury strikes again.
