Injury Update: Robbie Gray

Port Adelaide small forward/midfielder Robbie Gray has injured his toe at training during a weights session, he dropped a weight on his toe according to Power CEO Keith Thomas.

At this stage Gray looks likely to be available for Round 2, Port Adelaide will provide further updates if the injury starts to impact his availability when the AFL season resumes.

“We think it’s broken but it’ll be fine.. he’ll be running today (on an anti-gravity treadmill).. he doesn’t need a lot of preparation” Power CEO Keith Thomas this morning via @1629senSA.

Gray averaged 22.1 Disposals, 3.7 Marks, 2.2 Tackles & 1.3 Goals from 19 games in 2019, he recorded 18 Disposals, 6 Marks & 3 Tackles in Round 1 against Gold Coast.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

It is likely Gray will be available for Round 2 despite the minor setback at training, he predominately played forward in Round 1 and did not record a single CBA against the Suns at Metricon Stadium.

Fantasy: Round 1 Power v Suns CBA’s

With the return of Ollie Wines into a midfield role the opportunities for Gray will be limited, but expect Power coach Ken Hinkley to use his him at CBA’s at stages throughout the 2020 season.

Gray is a speculative trade option in season long fantasy, expect volatile scoring if his role remains mostly as a small forward.
