Injury Update: Jack Ziebell

Nth Melbourne midfielder Jack Ziebell is set to be available for Round 2, he sustained a high-grade medial strain to his knee in Round 1.

Originally Ziebell was set to undergo a 6-8 week rehabilitation period, almost 12 weeks will have passed by the time the AFL season re-starts in mid June.

Nth Melbourne coach Rhyce Shaw stated Ziebell was in a better position now than he was heading into Round 1 on Wednesday morning, Ziebell did have an injury interrupted pre-season due to a calf injury & played mostly forward in Round 1.

Ziebell averaged 20.5 Disposals, 3.8 Marks, 4.8 Tackles & 1.1 Goals from 22 games in 2019.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

The suspended season will likely result in Ziebell not missing a game, he did not play through the midfield in Round 1 due to an injury interrupted pre-season (47% Time on Ground).

Shaun Higgins, Jy Simpkin & Ben Cunnington were used the most at CBA’s in Round 1 for Nth Melbourne.

Fantasy: Round 1 Kangaroos v Saints CBA’s

With Ziebell returning at a better fitness level, it is possible a playing role will be expanded beyond his current forward role.

Ziebell is going to suffer a significant salary drop over the next 3-4 games due to a monster Break Even of 103pts (R1 Score: 22pts), it is worth keeping an eye on his fitness & role when footy returns for a potential trade situation.

The midfield usage will need to be at a decent level for Ziebell to be considered as a genuine trade target.
