Injury Update: Tim Taranto

GWS midfielder Tim Taranto won’t be available at Round 2 as he is still progressing through his rehabilitation from surgery in March, he dislocated his shoulder in the early stages in game 1 of the 2020 Marsh Community Series.

Giants coach Leon Cameron put a pause on an early return for Taranto today, the midfield depth at the Giants will also provide a further luxury not rushing back the 2019 GWS Best & Fairest winner.

“Tim Taranto is probably about eight to nine weeks away.”

“Clearly there’s going to be a benefit in the stop-start season for a number of clubs with players who’ve had injuries, and Tim will have that benefit which is great for our reigning best and fairest.” Giants coach Leon Cameron.

Taranto averaged 27.7 Disposals, 4.6 Marks & 6.3 Tackles from 26 games in 2019.

Taranto won’t return in time for the re-start of the 2020 AFL season in mid June, additionally the Giants will be patient ensuring he is available for the important back end part of the season & Finals.

The starting salary for Taranto is significant with the possibility of limited minutes when he returns, an instant trade-in wouldn’t be recommended when he resumes.
