Injury Update: Nic Naitanui

Nic Naitanui has been moved to a modified training program, he injured his hamstring last week at training.

Naitanui won’t play in the practice match against Fremantle this week, he is still some chance to play in the AAMI series game in early March.

West Coast GM of Football Craig Vozzo provided an update today via Eagles media.

“Nic pulled up with a tight hamstring after a training session last week and given the time of year we are just managing him conservatively,”

“He has had a low-key start to the week on the track and we will build up his workload later this week and next with the intention of him playing some game minutes in our AAMI Community Series match.” Craig Vozzo.

Naitanui played in 17 of 18 games last season.

Naitanui averaged 69.7pts from 17 games last season, he scored a season high 94pts against Brisbane in Round 3 & St Kilda in Round 17.

The latest setback for Naitanui should provide caution for those coaches looking to start with Naitanui, the Eagles will be very cautious with the star ruck.

Bailey Williams & Nathan Vardy are in the backup slot for the Eagles this season with the departure of Hickey to Sydney in the off-season, Williams has been hurt this pre-season while Vardy appears to be tracking well via @FootyRhino.

Naitanui is a pass in AFL Fantasy classic although he is expected to see an increase in minutes this season, also there is always the possibility of a rest which could derail your season.

Naitanui slides several spots in 10 team standard draft leagues.
