Fantasy: The role for Nat Fyfe in 2021

Nat Fyfe has provided clarification on his role for the 2021 season, he expects to play a similar role through the midfield while pinch hitting in the forward line.

Fyfe was used at 50.0% or more centre bounces in 12 of 14 games last season, he was used at 59.7% of centre bounces for the season in games which he played.

Fremantle senior coach Justin Longmuir has discussed the forward usage this upcoming season for Fyfe, he’s a difficult match-up when moving forward due to his contested marking ability.

Fyfe will remain a feature at centre bounces, he provided an update via Sportsday on Wednesday.

“My game won’t change too much from what you’ve seen in the last couple of years I don’t think,”

“I’ll be used through the midfield & the front half of the field & try & kick a few more goals”

“I don’t think I’ll be stationed at full forward for long periods” Fyfe said.

Fyfe averaged 21.4 Disposals from 14 games in 2020.

AFL FANTASY TAKE

Fyfe averaged 75.4pts from 14 games last season, he scored a season high 98pts in Round 2 against Brisbane.

It’s likely we could see around the 60.0% usage rate for Fyfe again at centre bounces this season, his contested type game is well suited to stoppages.

With the reduced interchange going down to 75 this season the extra few minutes available on the ground for Fyfe may be used as a resting forward.

There is upside in the starting price for Nat Fyfe to begin the 2021 season, he’s likely to be under owned.

Fyfe remains a strong early round selection in 10 team standard draft leagues.
