Mead has set his sights on a big pre-season, that includes a clear agenda to step up his fitness in preparation for a role through the middle of the ground.

“I want to take my fitness to another level”

“I’ll be a midfielder, midfield/forward.” Mead said on Monday.

“I want to be a player that can play alongside Trav (Boak) & Ollie (Wines).”

“I want to take my game to the next level” he added.

Mead is yet to debut at AFL level, he was selected at pick 25 in the 2019 AFL Draft.

Fantasy Impact: Jackson Mead had his 2021 campaign severely interrupted by injury, his initial development in 2020 was also interrupted by Covid with practice matches only available to compete.

Entering his 3rd year on an AFL list Mead will be looking to make an impact, he’s completed a solid block of running in the off-season & is set to compete for a spot in the midfield.

The Port Adelaide midfield has quality, senior coach Ken Hinkley has several options including new recruit Trent Dumont.

But Hinkley hasn’t been shy historically in providing opportunities to his younger generation of talent.

Mead is a strong consideration at Round 1 in season long fantasy if he has secured a position in the best 22 at Port Adelaide, ownership would likely be strong to high.

He’s a late round potential option in single season draft leagues.
