Brisbane Update: Hugh McCluggage

Hugh McCluggage is still working on his game ahead of the 2022 AFL H&A season.

He is optimistic on taking his game to another level in different areas of the ground including playing more as an inside midfielder and finishing in front of goal.

He spoke about his desire to keep improving on Sportsday this week.

“I think I’ve still got a fair bit left in me to be honest,”

AFL News on Twitter @aflratings “I’d like to be able to transition and play a
few more different positions as well.”

“There’s still things I can improve on the wing but I know that I’ve got that down pat now,”

“So I’d love to be able to have a bit more impact in around the footy even going forward I think my delivery inside 50 was really good last year but just my finishing around goals obviously is something that is spoken about and I’m doing a lot of work to try and improve on that as well.” McCluggage said.

He also acknowledged the trial of Dayne Zorko across a half-back role saying it could be used throughout the 2022 season.

into every now and then.” McCluggage said.

Fantasy Impact: Hugh McCluggage averaged 100.0pts in 2021 from 24 games, he scored 100pts or more in 58.3% of games.

The role more around the ball is noteworthy for McCluggage but he is still likely to spend a fair amount of time out on a wing this season, the forward type comments largely surround his finishing on goal rather than a positional placement.

McCluggage is as durable as they come, he has missed just 1 game since Round 20, 2017.

He’s an option in season long fantasy, but he is likely appropriately priced at Round 1.

McCluggage remains a solid option just beyond the premium midfield selections in single season draft leagues.
