Gold Coast small forward Izak Rankine will miss the start of the 2019 H&A season after injuring his hamstring in the final JLT Series game on Sunday, he is expected to miss up to 8 weeks.
The Suns will likely take a conservative approach for Rankine who was selected at Pick 3 in the 2018 AFL Draft.

“Given the specifics of Izak’s injury, the explosive nature with which he plays the game and where he is at in his career, we’ll take a responsible approach with Izak and make sure his rehabilitation is thorough and sets him up well moving forwards.” Gold Coast Head Physiotherapist, Lindsay Bull.
Rankine was a star in the final game of the 2018 U18 National Championships, he kicked 3.2 from 7 Disposals in the first qtr which set up a winning lead for Sth Australia.

AFL FANTASY TAKE
The Rankine injury has further reduced the amount of rookies available for Round 1, already scrambling to find suitable players that can average a healthy number early in the season fantasy coaches are now forced to look elsewhere.
The starting price for Rankine was in the high range for his likely scoring output but his job security was strong, he will likely be a downgrade target when he makes his debut later in the season.
