Essendon key forward Joe Daniher will miss the start of the 2019 H&A season, he sustained a calf injury at training this week.
Daniher could miss up to 6 weeks, he missed most of the 2018 season with Osteitis Pubis (OP).
“Joe was progressing strongly in his recovery from an unrelated injury, so this soft-tissue setback is clearly disappointing for both him and the club” GM of Football, Dan Richardson.
Daniher averaged 13.9 Disposals, 5.6 Marks & kicked 8 Goals from 7 games in 2018.

AFL FANTASY TAKE
The Daniher injury may open the door for Zac Clarke to play early in the season for the Bombers, fantasy coaches have been wondering how Clarke could fit into the Essendon line-up & this could be the perfect opportunity.
Structurally the Bombers are a bit of a mess in regards to key position players which could make for a volatile environment from a fantasy perspective, Clarke is cheap enough in season long fantasy to take a punt on as he presents tremendous upside with his scoring ability & critically would provide bench cover.
Clearly news for the Round 1 Essendon team is a must follow, unfortunately final teams will not be announced until just prior to full lock-out so having the ability to pivot will be crucial.
