Injury Update: Braydon Preuss

Braydon Preuss will be sidelined for a significant period of time, he sustained an injury during a gym workout on Tuesday.

The injury has been diagnosed as a torn right pectoral muscle, he is expected to undergo surgery.

Preuss is likely to miss 3-5 months, it is the opposite shoulder from which he underwent a shoulder reconstruction on earlier in the season.

“It’s shocking luck for Braydon who was on the cusp of returning from his shoulder injury,” 

“Scans on Tuesday afternoon revealed he’s torn his right pec muscle and he’ll consult a specialist on Wednesday.

“We expect he’ll undergo surgery and is likely to be sidelined for three-to-five months.” Giants Head of Medical Cullan Ball.

The Giants will likely provide updates as his rehabilitation progress.

Preuss averaged 50.0pts from 3 games at the Demons in 2020 , he averaged 62.5pts as solo ruck in 2 games (16Min Qtrs). 

Matt Flynn & Shane Mumford have taken over No.1 ruck responsibilities this season, in Round 10 they played in a dual ruck set-up against West Coast.

Giants senior coach Leon Cameron has been extremely mindful of the heavy workload on Shane Mumford this season, Matt Flynn has been a decent fantasy scoring option this season. 

Preuss is not a target for the foreseeable future this season.
