Josh Gibcus has been recognised for his vertical leap, strong overhead marking & ability to read the play, in a recent interview he explained his attributes.
“My vertical leap and intercept marking are some of the biggest strengths of my game. Reading the ball is something I’ve always prided my game on, and I always thought if I could improve on that as much as possible it could become a real weapon for me,”
“I model my game off Harris Andrews at Brisbane and Jake Lever at Melbourne. I like that they can read the ball really well and know when they should come off their man, they’re both really great intercept markers who don’t like to lose.” Gibcus said.

Gibcus averaged 12.8 Disposals, 4.9 Marks & 1.9 Tackles from 9 games in the NAB League in 2021.
Fantasy Impact: Richmond have added a strong key defender to their list in Josh Gibcus, his initial fantasy prospects could spike but following further development over time his scoring output should settle down in the long term.
Gibcus is likely to impact from a fantasy perspective in his ability to take intercept marks & be part of general play inside defensive 50.
He’s likely a questionable consideration for season long fantasy at Round 1 but it is worth monitoring his progress over pre-season, there are likely better value options at a lower salary.
Gibcus is likely a pass in single season draft leagues, he’s an option in dynasty leagues beyond the early rounds.
