Josh Kennedy is the current favourite to win the 2019 Coleman Medal, he kicked 43 Goals in 2018 from 14 games at an average of 3.07 Goals per game.
Kennedy kicked 69 Goals from 19 games in 2017 at an average of 3.63 Goals per game, he has played in 67.3% of possible games since the beginning of the 2017 season.
Kennedy is not expected to return to full training until late January after undergoing off-season shoulder surgery.
Lance Franklin is currently 2nd favourite, he kicked 57 Goals from 19 games in 2018 at an average of 3.00 Goals per game.
Franklin kicked 73 Goals from 24 games in 2017 at an average of 3.04 Goals per game.
Franklin underwent groin surgery 2 weeks ago, he is expected to return to skills training January.
Ben Brown lines up at 3rd favourite to take out the 2019 Coleman Medal, he kicked 61 Goals from 22 games at an average of 2.77 Goals per game last season.
Brown kicked 63 Goals from 22 games in 2017 at an average of 2.86 Goals per game.
Brown won’t return to full training until January after undergoing off-season hip surgery.
With the top three favourites in pre-season rehab it is time to look for some value elsewhere, 2018 winner Jack Riewoldt is currently $19 but now has another key Forward as a teammate next season (Tom Lynch $8.50).
Tom McDonald ($10) kicked 53 Goals from 20 games last season at an average of 2.65 Goals per game, the Demons were the highest scoring team in the 2018 H&A season (104.5pts per game) & Jesse Hogan ($15) has departed so this could open the possibility for McDonald to become an elite Forward.
There is no need for any investments at this stage, with a fair amount of pre-season remaining it is wise to wait & see in this market.
