Unfortunate news for Harrison Wigg as he ruptured his ACL at training today, he will miss the entire 2019 season.

A timeline has been established for Sam Naismith to return to football, John Longmire advised in an interview today that he won’t be available until Rounds 4-6.

“He won’t be available for the start of the season, we hope to get him back in the first 4-6 weeks” John Longmire on Sam Naismith via @1116sen.

The delayed return from an ACL injury has put on hold an R2 cheap option for the start of the season, Darcy Cameron could also be used in the interim by the Swans.

Lance Franklin & Dan Menzel are in doubt for Round 1, both won’t play in the JLT series which could further provide an interrupted Sydney line-up early in the season.

“They’re running, they’re not yet training.. we’re not sure they’ll be right for Round 1.. to be honest they’ll play when they’re ready.. they won’t play the JLT Series” John Longmire on Lance Franklin & Dan Menzel via @1116sen.

Nick Blakely might not be ready for action early in the season, a decent showing in the JLT Series could change the current landscape.

“His training so far has been limited.. he’s still getting some size about him.. I wouldn’t be surprised if he plays a bit of senior footy this year, but we’ve also taken the view we need to get him strong & developed” John Longmire on Nick Blakey via @1116sen.

Callum Mills appears likely for an increase in midfield usage this season, although suited to a half back role Sydney look likely to make the move this season.

“We would like to have Callum (Mills) play midfield” John Longmire via @1116sen.

Ken Hinkley hasn’t given up hope for Ollie Wines playing in Round 1, that would be a far quicker timeframe than the one previously given by Port Adelaide just a couple of week ago.

“We’re hopeful he’ll be available for the start of the season” Ken Hinkley on Ollie Wines via @1116sen.

Tom Rockliff could be viable option in a starting midfield if Wines is delayed at the start of the season.

Robbie Gray looks set to be available for Round 1, Port Adelaide will take the conservative approach for the remainder of the pre-season.

“Robbie (Gray) is not too bad.. 100% certain that Robbie will be there for the start of the season” Ken Hinkley via @1116sen.

Kade Kolodjashnij is in doubt for Round 1, this could open the door for Marty Hore to debut in Round 1 especially with the delayed start to the season for Jake Lever.

“It’ll be touch and go for Kade, but we’re not going to take any risks” Simon Goodwin via @BenGuthrie_.

There appears to be no concern for Brad Crouch playing Round 1 at this stage, he is back in full training after missing the entire 2018 season with OP.

“We lacked a bit of depth in the midfield last year at times so hopefully Brad (Crouch) can help us with that this season” Matt Crouch.

Great news for those keen on Aaron Hall, he has just about completed a full pre-season so far and looks set to play a pivotal attacking role for Nth Melbourne.

“I’ve done pretty much a full pre-season so far & have hardly missed a session.. I think I’ll predominantly be playing midfield & half-forward, & a little bit out on the wing” Aaron Hall.
