2022 Fantasy: Zac Bailey Role

Zac Bailey is set for an increase in midfield usage in the 2022 season, at the age of 22 & entering his fifth AFL pre-season he should have a solid fitness base to see extended midfield minutes.

He was selected at pick 15 in the 2017 AFL draft, Bailey has played 70 games including all 43 games for the Lions in 2020-21.

Brisbane GM of Football Danny Daly was providing several updates on Tuesday via Trade Radio, when forecasting changes for the 2022 season Daly stated to “get Zac Bailey playing more through the midfield”.

Bailey averaged 18.3 Disposals, 3.2 Marks & 2.8 Tackles from 24 games for the Lions in 2021.

He was used at 27.3% of centre bounces.

FANTASY IMPACT: Zac Bailey averaged 72.7pts from 24 games for Brisbane in 2021, he scored a season high 101pts in Round 22 against Collingwood.

An increase in midfield usage for Bailey would provide speed & a different dynamic for the Lions through the midfield in 2022, this should correlate into an increase in fantasy scoring output.

Bailey is a consideration for season long fantasy at Round 1, there is genuine scoring upside potential if the midfield increase is confirmed over the pre-season.

He’s worth sliding well ahead of expected ADP in draft leagues.
